Why Netherbuilds?

I was always somewhat of an outcast myself and felt very misunderstood growing up, that drew me to the "Nethergundam". it had its small dedicated fan-base of people who appreciated its uhh.. bold design? Something about him being a windmill was the funniest thing to me, so he became my first real fully "custom build" made out of a RX-78-2 HG revive, plaplate and a copious amount of epoxy putty. It was probably the first time I really felt like I accomplished something.

Later when the pandemic hit I obtained my first resin printer an I made a conversion kit in Fusion 360 to fit RX-78-2 HG revive. Wanting to sell them on etsy a buddy of mine came up with the name "Netherbuilds,"since I'm from the Netherlands and my first real mark in the gunpla community was my Nethergundam kit. With the profit I invested in new tools and materials, to support my ever growing ambition to make cool stuff. Funny enough that worked out and it made me realize I'm able to make whatever I want to. And now here we are.

What started the shop?

Netherbuilds is the creative name Kem has been using since he designed the Netherbuilds kit to fit RX-78-2 HG revive. He is a gunpla builder based in the Netherlands (what a surprise, I know), I've been building gunpla since 2015. I've always had a great interest in anything scale models related but found I was never ready to commit to traditional scale modeling. That's where gunpla introduced me into a world of possible push fit model kits, where the end result can vary from straight out of the box built to fully custom built. It became my stepping stone into the world of scale modeling, with every kit I built I became more eager to add my own flair and modifications wherever i see fit.

Fast forward to 2024 and I'm suffering from long Covid and the CAD modeling skills I taught myself came in very handy. Unable to build models for long periods at a time I needed a way to access the sprues easier, without much hassle and preferably suitable for the couch. So I've developed a Universal clip strip. Through sheer testing of what worked with my current energy pool I made something I can happily say I'm proud of, and I hope to help many others who might be in the same boat as I am. Now I'm finally able to enjoy something I always loved doing, build cool shit.

The Team

Kem

Owner - CAD Modeler

Hi! My name is Kem, generally chaotic lawful I have a wide variety of interests within the scope of creative expression, engineering and design.
I'm the creator and owner of Netherbuilds, a Facebook page revolved around gunpla and creative endeavors. In my 3d printing grind I developed a conversion gunpla kit that made my hobby self-sufficient allowing me to expand my horizon to other crafting techniques and skills. I love trying new things, new ideas and apply at least one new thing in every project I manage. Gunpla is my main passion, making tiny mobile suits and fabricating tiny parts to add personal flair.

If you see a product on this page I designed it.

Linny

Graphic designer / Webdesign

My name is Linny, a odd one from “The Netherlands”. Also known as “a Silly Kitty”, because I wear cat ears at Cosplay conventions and renascence fairs when I’m not in costume. I’m a creative spirit that loves to create new things.
Started with making original design costumes in 2008 and added cosplay to the list in 2014. Still a huge passion of mine is making custom corsets and adding a lot of details to my creations. Maybe you know some of my work from the “Fantasy & Cosplay” scene. For more about that part of me check out the social links.
Here on the Netherbuilds I assist with graphic designs as in website, business cards, flyers and more.
